EDUCATIONAL Scholarship and HBCU Tour Recipients

The Tyler Matthew Curtis Hill Foundation, Inc. was established on August 19, 2016, in loving memory of Tyler Matthew-Curtis Hill on his Golden 19th birthday. Our mission is to help our thriving youth reach their full potential and become successful by offering educational scholarships. We strive to sponsor at least two college-bound students per year with scholarships to assist them with general expenses. Additionally, we are dedicated to raising awareness about Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) by collaborating with organizations that provide tours to these esteemed institutions. These multi-campus college tours offer students a comprehensive understanding of the history, culture, and traditions that have shaped these schools' collective legacy, providing a solid framework for comparison that will help them choose the right HBCU. CONGRATULATIONS Caius Shakes and E'lon Hubanks!!!!

The Tyler Matthew Curtis Hill Foundation, Inc. is honored to present our 10th and 11th recipient, Caius Shakes and E'lon Hubanks Educational Scholarships to Utah Tech University—St. George, Utah and Louisiana State University (LSU)—Baton Rouge, Louisiana, respectively.

Caius Shakes...

is a 2026 Tyler Matthew Curtis Hill Foundation Scholarship recipient and graduate of Elsik High School in Houston, Texas. Caius earned a 4.0 GPA and distinguished himself both academically and athletically. A talented high jumper, he is a three-time District Champion, Area Champion, State Qualifier, and Nike Outdoor National Qualifier.

Caius will attend Utah Tech University, where his scholarship application lists Finance as his major and Recreation & Sports Management as his minor. In his essay, Caius shared how Tyler's message of believing in yourself strongly resonated with him. He credits belief, hard work, discipline and faith with helping him overcome obstacles and pursue his goals. He also hopes to use his education and experiences to help create opportunities for other young people.

E'lon Hubanks...

is a 2026 Tyler Matthew Curtis Hill Foundation Scholarship recipient and graduate of Sulphur High School in Sulphur, Louisiana. E'lon earned a 3.73 GPA and received both the “S” Award and AP Scholar Award. He has demonstrated strong leadership as President of JAG and as a project manager for Sulphur High School's LEAD program, while also participating in numerous student organizations, community service and track.

E'lon will attend Louisiana State University (LSU), where he plans to major in Biological Sciences with a minor in Philosophy. His recommendation letter notes his goal of attending dental school. E'lon describes higher education as an opportunity to expand his knowledge, challenge his perspectives and prepare himself to make a meaningful and positive impact on his community and the world.
